VALERIE'S ALEXANDRIA

This house was a steal on Craig’s list.  Valerie paid $50 for this wonderful house.

This is a large 13 room house.  Here is the dry fitting.

For the color scheme Valerie used grey, white, black and a touch of turquoise.

The windows in this kit did not come apart so it was touchy painting them,
but the panes were easy to clean up with just a bit of water and a q-tip.

Cobblestones made a nice contrast to the turquoise wall.

The first floor of the tower shows the curtains and marble floor.
The black wrought iron kitchen set makes a very cozy nook.
Valerie will be using a Christmas theme for this house.

The tree on the second floor is an outdoor decoration.

Some of the accent pieces for the front of the house were missing
so Valerie has to improvise.

The tower has little tabs to cover the slots where the floors were joined.

She has attached the house roof and tower roof.  Some of the bric-a-brac is also in place.

Here are two of the interior rooms with just the basic furniture in place.

Details have been added to  the kitchen furniture.

Gingerbread men, cookies, cupcakes and pumpkin bread are being readied for baking.

Several cookie cutters also are seen on the table top.

The cookie cutters and gingerbread men came in a package from Michael’s.

The cookies are circles punched from pressed foam sheets.

Several layers of the circles pressed into the tin created the cupcakes.

The pumpkin bread is several layer of foam board painted brown.

The goodies all look quite edible.

Cups, saucers, bowls and such fill the cupboard.

On the sink is a container of utensils and a freshly baked cake,

which is a decorated dowel cutting sitting on a button with a doily.

The hutch in the bathroom is an unfinished one from Michael’s.

It was painted black to pick up the accents in the flooring.

Scraps from the floor tile were used in the back of the hutch to tie the room all together.

The items on the first shelf are Melissa and Doug.

This is the completed bathroom.

The wall racks are both from Melissa and Doug as is the toilet paper.

The plunger was made from a Crisbon kit.

The rug is a piece of crushed velvet to which an appliqué and some trim was added.
Various fish 3-D stickers have been added to the walls as a finishing touch.

Valerie is beginning to feel the Christmas Spirit.

She has begun decorating the exterior of her house.

She's added greenery and bows to both the front and side of her Alexandria.

This is the second floor with wreath, Santa and tree in the tower.

This is a good shot of Santa and his bag of "goodies".

There are also toys added to the tree in the tower.

What a perfect place to showcase this outdoor tree and toys.

The wreath has also been added to the front door.

Valerie has also taken time to decorate her fireplace.
The logs are sticks from some branches in the yard.
The flame was printed from the Internet.  It makes a very realistic fire.
The mantle is decorated with greenery, a bow and stockings.
Her candles are built on bead caps.

Greenery is added and holly leaves, too, which she found in Michael's.
The Santa is a button glued to a woodsie.

The woodsie was painted gold and is supported

by a small triangle of wood glued to the back.  Very Nice!!!

More details for the front of the house.

Sparkling gold snow flakes pick up the light and glisten on the windows.

Christmas is spelled out at the above the last set of windows.

A chest with a Nativity scene will be used in a hallway--

the reason for the season.

Valerie had to build a banister for the second floor.

She was afraid someone would fall down the stairs!!!!!

A new coverlet was made for the bed.  The same fabric made the valance on the window.

It gave the room a more holiday look.

The dining room table is set for a sumptuous meal on a festive Christmas tablecloth.
The hutch is also in the dining room.

Below is the just added snow on the roof.

Instead of shingling Valerie used felt to cover the roof with a layer of snow.

.

The exterior of the Alexandria is now complete.
Valerie still has a few rooms to finish, but this is the outside.
It certainly does look festive.
The yard decorations were found in Michaels

This is the right side of the house.  The greenery around the base was given to look of snow,
by touching the greenery with a sponge dipped in white paint.

The left side of the house is open.
Here you can see the kitchen, bathroom, guest bedroom and living room
The second photo looks through to several other rooms.
This was a very large house to furnish.
There are still a few rooms that have to be furnished, but it is close to being finished.

This is a the back of the house.
The bedroom that is in shadow is pictured above as is the dining room.
Now that the house is almost finished, we can all see that Valerie has outdone herself on this one!!!

Congratulations!!!
