VALERIE'S ALEXANDRIA
This house was a steal on Craig’s list.
Valerie paid $50 for this wonderful house.
This is a large 13 room house. Here is the dry fitting.
For the color scheme Valerie used grey, white, black and a touch of turquoise. The windows
in this kit did not come apart so it was touchy painting them,
Cobblestones made a nice contrast to the turquoise wall.
The
first floor of the tower shows the curtains and marble floor.
Some of the accent pieces for the front of the house were missing She has attached the house roof and tower roof. Some of the bric-a-brac is also in place.
Here are two of the interior rooms with just the basic furniture in place.
Details have been added to the kitchen furniture. Gingerbread men, cookies, cupcakes and pumpkin bread are being readied for baking. Several cookie cutters also are seen on the table top. The cookie cutters and gingerbread men came in a package from Michael’s. The cookies are circles punched from pressed foam sheets. Several layers of the circles pressed into the tin created the cupcakes. The pumpkin bread is several layer of foam board painted brown. The goodies all look quite edible. Cups, saucers, bowls and such fill the cupboard. On the sink is a container of utensils and a freshly baked cake, which is a decorated dowel cutting sitting on a button with a doily.
The hutch in the bathroom is an unfinished one from Michael’s. It was painted black to pick up the accents in the flooring. Scraps from the floor tile were used in the back of the hutch to tie the room all together. The items on the first shelf are Melissa and Doug.
This is the completed bathroom. The wall racks are both from Melissa and Doug as is the toilet paper. The plunger was made from a Crisbon kit.
The rug is a piece of crushed velvet to
which an appliqué and some trim was added.
Various fish 3-D stickers have been added to the walls as a finishing touch.
She has begun decorating the exterior of her house. She's
added greenery and bows to both the front and side of her Alexandria. This is the second floor with wreath, Santa and tree in the tower.
There are also toys added to the tree in the tower. What a
perfect place to showcase this outdoor tree and toys.
Greenery is added and holly leaves, too, which she found in Michael's. The woodsie was painted gold and is supported by a
small triangle of wood glued to the back. Very Nice!!!
More
details for the front of the house.
Sparkling gold
snow flakes pick up the light and glisten on the windows.
Christmas is
spelled out at the above the last set of windows.
A chest with a
Nativity scene will be used in a hallway-- the reason for the season.
Valerie had to build a banister for the second floor. She was afraid someone would fall down the stairs!!!!!
A new coverlet was made for the bed. The same fabric made the valance on the window. It
gave the room a more holiday look. Below is the just added snow on the roof.
Instead of shingling Valerie used felt to cover the roof with a layer of
snow. |
