RITA AND VALERIE'S COMBINED EFFORT

Valerie and I worked on this one together since we are both Red Hatters.
It was a gift to our "Queenie" Carol Daly
as a memory for the "Gathering of Queens".
She worked so hard to make that day a special event
for all the Queens who gathered here from North Carolina
 to be crowned Queen of their chapter.

 A royal reception for Red Hat Queens to celebrate their coronation.

   We carried out the red and purple theme on the exterior.
We utilized charms to trim the door.
A large red hat pin was attached to the house
 from which hung a sign "A Gathering of Queens.
The little bench in the front is another of Valerie's childhood treasures.
A gift fit for a Queen.

This Red and Purple themed house has become a reception hall

 for the Royal Gathering of Queens.

The Queens are all attired in their lovely purple dresses and red crowns.
They are our original clothespin dolls.

    The fun theme is carried out in the buffet table with its purple runner.
     All the food on the buffet was concocted from bits and pieces
which looked pretty good as a table full of food.
 Tiny white beads became mints;
small wooden beads cut in half became cashews;
 a decorated piece of a dowel became the cake for the center piece;
little chunky squares of wood painted brown became brownies
and other things that I can no longer even recall.
Another table held stacks of button dishes", napkins and
pieces of a clear straw made the glasses.  If you look real close,
you can see a picture of "Queenie" on the wall.
 She'll be thrilled I'm sure.

 The upstairs was made into a simple lounge.
Gold trim covered the seam on the front wall.
The windows too, were outlined with a trim instead of wooden molding.
     A pizza box lid holder made the little table and
the two rockers (purple seats added) are Dollar Tree items.
 A put together bead lamp (purple of course) graces the table.
The couch is another inexpensive piece that we covered in red velvet.
 I'm sure any Queen would be happy to rest on it for a moment or two.
It was a most memorable day!!
