VALERIE'S LAUREL/PRIMROSE

This house was donated to a fund raiser for a kidney transplant patient.

Valerie did this Laurel with the Primrose attached.
Below is the window box and shutter treatment.
A piece of black lace trims the front of the window box
and little black beads make the nail heads.
The flowers on the shutters are cut outs from a lace piece.
A rhinestone glistens in the center of each flower.
Pink ruffle is the valance showing through the window.

The landscaping on the side of the house shows how Valerie used
small sprigs as climbing greenery on the posts.
The large clusters appear to be ornamental cabbages.
We use green felt for the grassy areas.

The kitchen is equipped with punch out furniture from Greenleaf.
The kitchen light is a fish hook with clear beads placed over the barbs.

The refrigerator handles were made from tube beads.
The cookie jar on top is a large bead.
The sink is decorated with woodsies and rhinestones.
Beads make the drawer pulls.
A variety of copper shaped beads double as containers or bowls etc.
The stove burners are lock washers.
They come in a variety of sizes and really look like gas burners.
The salt and pepper shakers on the shelf are pierced earring backs.

The table and chairs were sprayed with crackle.
It comes in a spray can like flex stone.
It gives a weathered effect which I think is most attractive.
The pancakes are round cuttings of tan felt with a dab of yellow fabric paint for butter.
The plates are actually buttons.
The black coffee, which Valerie drinks, is achieved
with a circle of brown felt on top of some cotton for fill.
The coffee with cream, which I drink, is simply a circle of tan felt atop the cotton fill.

The living room curtains are lace ruffling.
Depending on the pattern and width of the lace
they make wonderful quick elegant curtains.
Valerie also used gathered lace for the molding around the top of the room.
The lamp was made from wooden beads for a different texture.
The shade is a creamer container.
Lace cuttings make the doilies and a basket of small rolls of yarn sits on the floor.

In the bathroom you can see the little rose appliqués
Valerie added to each of the valances for accent.
It gives a little added touch to the ruffling.
The rugs were made from knit fabric to which a trim was glued.
The towel and wash cloth were cut from a thin piece of terry cloth.
 The edges were pinked.
The lights on either side of the mirror are again the long tubular beads
that were used for the refrigerator handles.

In the bedroom Valerie again used lace
instead of the wooden molding around the upper walls.
The bed was made from scratch.
The vanity and chair are Greenleaf furniture punch outs.

To make the headboard Valerie used the discards from two windows.
The footboard was just a straight wood cutting.
She simply created a box.
A foam mattress was added wrapped like a package and glued to the base.
  That gave the sheet effect.
The pillow was simply a rectangle of the sheet fabric stuffed with cotton.
The headboard was trimmed with a pink braid and a rosebud was added.
The coverlet is a lace cutting and rosebuds were added to the corners.
The chair was a Greenleaf punch out that was then upholstered with fabric.
Floral lace cutouts make the doilies.
The dressing table, another Greenleaf punch out, was finished with gathered fabric.
The same trim was used for the stool.
It was an unfinished piece that was picked up in a novelty bin.
Mirrors were added to finish the top of the vanity.
Bead bottles and a white felt powder puff are also seen.
A small bead lamp and more bottles are atop the dresser.
A piece of jewelry makes the wall decoration.

The bear rug was actually a small crochet piece we found in a craft store.
It's amazing how your eye can begin to see how some of these odds and ends can be used.

The third floor is finished as a child's room.
A small plastic house makes a perfect child's dollhouse.
The statue is a Dollar Tree find.

The Primrose addition became a computer room for Valerie.
She built the computer desk awhile ago and had now found the perfect place for it.
Now in addition to the pc she has added a laptop.

The upstairs of the Primrose has become a storage area for unused furniture.

I hope you enjoyed seeing Valerie's creativity as she expressed herself in this house.
