RITA'S FARMHOUSE

A Gift for Sarah

This was the first house I ever did.
I used to do the craft circuit with my Clothespin Dolls.
At one event there was a vendor displaying doll houses.
It was my first “up close and personal” look at these wonderful creations.
That year for Christmas when my grown children asked what I wanted.
I told them if I couldn’t play with it I didn’t want anything.
Certainly not something for the kitchen!!
Well, my one son and his wife bought me this house.
There was a stipulation that if they had a daughter it would be hers.

Well this is where it all started.
When I opened the kit, I was overwhelmed by all the pieces.
I persisted.  The more involved I got the more I loved it.
  I was hooked.
I was able to use my imagination in ways I couldn’t have believed.
Bottoms of egg cartons became hanging baskets.
Some of the furniture in our furniture section was created for this house.
The couch, the beds, the bassinette, the kitchen table and chairs,
the dining room table and chairs,
and a tongue depressor shelf above the kitchen sink
were all products of my imagination.
I have found the more you use it (imagination) the more fertile it becomes.
I loved every minute of creating this house.

This effort now resides with my 8 year old granddaughter
 as requested by her parents.
